IntroWelcome to Week 4 of the fantasy football season. Before we take a look at the running back rankings, let’s see how standard scoring running backs fared in Week 3. Mr. Jonathon Taylor was both your PPR and standard RB1 with three rushing touchdowns. The Vikings Jordan Mason was all about the non-PPR, as he didn’t even see a pass in the Vikings rout of the Bengals. He did top 100 yards and had two rushing touchdowns to leapfrog Jahmyr Gibbs, who was ahead of him in PPR scoring. While Christian McCaffrey was RB12 in standard and RB6 in PPR leagues with his 10 receptions and no touchdowns.
Running back injuries
James Conner, Cardinals
Conner suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 3 against the 49ers. He will be replaced by Trey Benson, while Emari Demercado takes over third down work. This is of course a bump for Benson and makes him a must pickup if he’s available on waivers.
Najee Harris, Chargers
Harris went down with an Achilles injury last week and is done for the season. This injury secures rookie Omarion Hampton’s lead back role, while Hassan Haskins works in as a passing down back. Hampton also had a breakout, finishing as RB4 in PPR leagues after securing six receptions, 129 total yards and a touchdown on 25 overall touches. He’ll be a must start in fantasy moving forward.
Tyrone Tracy, Giants
Tracy suffered a shoulder injury in Week 3 that will keep hi out 2-4 weeks. This is good news for those rostering Cam Skattebo, who had a strong game in Week 3, as he secured another touchdown while rushing 60 yards on ten carries, adding six receptions on eight targets for 61 yards.
Zach Charbonnet, Seahawks
Charbonnet wasn’t able to play last week with a foot injury, but was listed as a full participant for Seattle’s non-practice practice. It seems like the team felt pretty confident they wouldn’t need Charbonnet against the Saints, and they were correct, as it was a huge blowout. Now it appears Charbonnet will be a full go on a short week against the Cardinals on TNF.
